Multi-currency subscription tracking

Keep every original price. Compare everything in one currency.

Remote work, travel, international app stores, and global software vendors can leave one person paying recurring bills in several currencies. A useful tracker should preserve what each provider actually charges while still showing one understandable monthly total.

Compare my currencies

Two values, two different jobs

Original amount

What the provider charges, such as €59.99 per year.

Comparison amount

The estimated equivalent in your preferred display currency.

Avoid the common mistake

Never add unlike currencies directly.

Adding $20, €20, and £20 to produce “60” ignores the fact that these units have different values. First choose a comparison currency, convert each expense into it, normalize the billing cycles, and only then calculate the combined total.

Keep the original currency attached to each expense. That makes price changes easier to update and lets you compare your record with the provider's invoice. The converted value should be treated as a planning view, not as a replacement for the original charge.

Record the charge

Enter the full price, its original currency, and the provider's actual billing cycle.

Choose a display currency

Use the currency that makes your household or business budget easiest to understand.

Keep estimates honest

Remember that exchange rates move and payment providers may add fees or their own conversion spread.

Example workflow

A clear record for an international subscription list.

The converted monthly figures change with the exchange-rate table, but the original charge remains stable until the provider changes its price.

What exchange-rate totals can and cannot tell you

Useful for planning, imperfect for prediction.

A conversion rate helps compare commitments today. It cannot guarantee the exact home-currency amount of a future transaction. The market rate may change before renewal, and your bank, card network, app store, or payment provider may use a different rate or add a fee.

  • Use converted totals to compare scale and plan a monthly budget.
  • Keep original prices so invoices and provider notices remain easy to reconcile.
  • Update an expense when the provider changes its listed price or billing schedule.
  • Review large foreign-currency renewals shortly before they are charged.
  • Check your payment provider when you need an exact transaction amount.
